Presence

Today, I am practicing presence 

I start by taking a slow, full breath in.. and an unhurried breath out

I gently pull my attention towards this moment

Not the future

Not the past

If my thoughts drift ahead or loop backwards, I don’t fight them

I simply guide them back

Dropping my minds anchor 

Into each new moment

Allowing each hour to simply unfold

Adding a touch of laughter or whimsy when it’s grey

Reminding myself: I don’t have to solve every problem today

I can simply sit in stillness

Squeezing life tightly 

Noticing the beauty

Slowly and deliberately

I picture myself fully present today

Cutting the cords connected to 

What anybody thinks

Or any unrealistic demands I place on myself

Today, all I have to do

Is be
